Château Durfort-Vivens Margaux 2006

Dufort-Vivens was established by the Dufort de Duras family 700 years ago. The current owners are the Lurtons, who own a number of other châteaux including Climens in Sauternes. They are also major shareholders in First Growth Château Margaux. As soon as Gonzague Lurton inherited the property from his father Lucien in 1992, he set about making major improvements, for it had long been felt that the property under performed. A new chai (or winery) helped raise quality, and the wine soon held its own among the illustrious wines of Margaux.Made from 70% Cabernet with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this wine displays great typicity - namely a highly perfumed aroma and elegance. 2006 produced a sturdy style that's now nicely rounded and complex.
