Maison Brotte Cuvée Prestige Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2009

Maison Brotte has been established for 70 years and comprises four estates: Domaine Barville, Château de Bord, Domaine Grosset and Domaine de l'Aube. Barville, its Châteauneuf estate, occupies a high point with vines averaging 50 years of age. The Cuvée Prestige, created by Laurent Brotte, is based on the Grenache grape with 15% Mourvèdre, a grape renowned for its deep colour and firm backbone. Quality was exceptionally high in 2009, a vintage described by Wine Spectator as "a scintillating harvest". Cuvée Prestige was aged for a year in French oak barrels, which has added toasty complexity to the deliciously long, ripe black fruit. To show the wine off at its best serve with roast beef or bring a bottle out for Christmas dinner.
